Aesthete (adj.)

Someone with deep sensitivity to the beauty of art and nature

My name is Zahra Damayanti. I was born in Surabaya, Indonesia 8 November 1994 and grew up in this multicultural city. I love travelling and always appreciates the cultures and historical stories for every places that I visited. I believe that every places has its unique characteristics that makes people could enjoy in the form of beautiful meaning and interesting attractions. My precious things that I always bring wherever I go is my camera and sketchbook. I like to take photos and drawing every particular things that I found especially related to the form of nature then often use that as my inspiration in design.

During two years studied interior design, I had opportunity to work with professional designers and artists from various disciplines that engaged directly with contemporary design projects or issues. The design practices were becoming increasingly multidisciplinary with interior designer, architects, exhibition designers, curator, graphic and many more. Then, we needed to choose one of those projects which was based on our design interest.

I found out that my design interest is more about hands-on project which related to materiality or material explorations, colour, pattern, drawing, painting and thematic design. It is the beginning of the story when I  interested with the course which I feel that is more related to my passion, Bachelor of Arts (Textile Design). I learn alot about art and design while I was studying interior design. When I got an opportunity to study textile design, it gives me an exciting idea on how to combine interior and textile design as a new concept of design.

How the used of colours and materials with the consideration of patterns work to create different ephemeral conditions and experiences for people who wear or live in?

This website contains some of my thoughts, inspirations, works and ideas that fascinates and everything else related to me. So do not hesitate to contact me if you want to share  and give any ideas or information related to arts and designs!
