'Design is like storytelling brimming over with detail and emotion. Every designer needs a story and for me, textile design is like storytelling with fabrics, patterns and colours.' - Zahra Damayanti
Through my time studying at RMIT Bachelor of Arts (Textile Design) majoring in digital printing and a keen focused on fashion based print, it enables my practice has been able to evolve and diversify, merging in traditional techniques and new technologies. The works that I can create are vastly original with an aesthetic that can be described as a gestural organic style with rich of colours and motifs that are inspired by natural world which combined with mixed media techniques.
I have become freelance designer for Indonesia local fashion brand including Olivia Lubis Jensen and Tribal Signature. Additionally, I also has participated in a range of industry collaborative projects that focus on trend-driven commercial products such as Linen House, Maxwell & Williams and Nikel + Sole.
